Terry Pratchett: Small Gods

I love tortoises. My tortoise isn't a god (at least I think he isn't), but the one in the book "Small Gods" by Terry Pratchett is one, the Great God Om. He didn't intend to be a tortoise (a great big bull would have been better) but that's just how things turn out when you have lost your believers. Oh, they believe in Om but not in the real Om. Lucky for Om, he is dropped into a garden where the novice Brutha works. Brutha is a... um... special, that's it, a special person. Can Om convince Brutha that he is not a demon? Can he get back his believers? It isn't easy with the Inquisition on their backs and a strange resistance group meddling in their quest. The turtle moves!

Once again a funny book by Terry Pratchett. This time I really laughed a lot. I might have laughed even more but I had to try to keep quiet on the airplane, though I couldn't help chuckling. I liked that the God Om was a tortoise (go tortoises!) and the philosophy behind gods and how they are born and die based on belief. One small detail bothered my though... Don't give milk or bread to tortoises, damn it! Bad Ephebean barman, bad! Anyways, an excellent book.
